Bristol
General Information
Bristol is located in the South West of England, United Kingdom. Straddling the River Avon, this dynamic inland port and university city is the cultural centre of England's rural south west.
Bristol became the main British port for transatlantic trade. The city was a major trading centre for the distribution of wine, tobacco and in the 17th century, slaves. Bristol has a Floating Harbour, so called because of the lock gates that protect it from the tides. It is a focal point for residents and tourists alike.
